Closing another amazing chapter hopefully, to open another...

Well, we are now leaving Shell, Ecuador and traveling down toward Peru. We have had an AMAZING time here in Ecuador and have met so many incredible people in our time here. We have been in Ecuador about a month and a half and have been able to volunteer here with a number of organizations which have come to mean so much to us. It has been incredible to learn and grow as a result of the people that we´ve met and we will continue to cherish the relationships we´ve made as we journey on through the rest of our trip, and remember fondly our game nights with new friends, bridge crossings, and jungle visits making this one of our favorite stops yet. Heading south now to Peru, we hope to make it to Cuzco and Machu Picchu in the next couple of weeks.

Lost City: Found

Well, we made it back from our 6 day, 40 kilometer trek through the Colombian jungle to find Ciudad Perdida, the Lost ruin city. Well worth the grueling hike and tormenting insects to see these ancient ruins preserved in such a beautiful setting. We made it through safely and are now in Bogota, Colombia until we make our way into Ecuador in the next coming weeks. We will keep you posted as we continue to travel southward and discover more wonders along the way!

Off to the Lost City

Hi everyone,

We made it to Cartagena, Colombia from Venezuela after a 30 hour bus ride which was less than comfortable for most of it but we have had a great time here in Cartagena. It is a beautiful little Colonial town with preserved architecture and a small-town feel. We are now on our way to Santa Marta to embark on a 6 day hike on the ruin trails of Ciudad Perdida, the lost city. We imagine it will be very similar to an Indiana Jones movie and we will probably be enlisted for a great quest where we will find amazing treasures, but we may have built it up a bit. :-) We´ll let you know how it goes!

Into the great wide open...

Well, our time here in Venezuela has been interesting so far. We made it safely here a little over a week ago and are finding our way around this huge country little by little. I think it has become apparent to all of us how much spanish we know (and don´t know:-) ) We are learning more and more each day. There have been a few hiccups along the way but it has been really exciting to see all these new places and meet new people. We will be in Venezuela for the next week and half and then will be off to Colombia. We miss all of you and hope to be writing and updating soon.
